Students may come to the library independently or in small groups to check out library books or use the library to find information they need. Also a teacher can schedule and bring in his/her class to use the library reference materials and computers to do research and/or work on information gathering skills with the assistance of the librarian.
Pre-K Threes and Fours: Read Moonlight the Halloween Cat by Cynthia Rylant and Minerva Louise On Halloween by Janet Morgan Stoeke. After reading the book have the students take turn arranging the life of the pumpkin on the promethean board.
Kindergarten: Read J is for Jack-O-Lantern: A Halloween Alphabet by Denise Brennan-Nelson.
1st Grade: Read Skeleton Cat by Kristyn Crow. Review finding a "Just right book" using the five finger rule.
2nd Grade: Read Hallo-what? by Christel Desmoinaux. Discuss Story Elements – Problem and Solution.
3rd Grade Read the Texas Bluebonnet Nominee When the Beat was Born by Laban Carrick Hill.
4th Grade: Read the Texas Bluebonnet Nominee The Right Word:Roget and his Thesaurus by Jen Bryant.
5th Grade: Read the second ½ of Texas Bluebonnet Nominee Great American Dust Bowl by Don Brown.
6th Grade: Read the first ½ of Texas Bluebonnet Nominee Great American Dust Bowl by Don Brown.
