Introduce myself as the Librarian then do Library Orientation with Students and Teachers:
- Identify different collections in the Library. Introduce and point out the different Genre locations in the Fiction section.
- Explain how Discovery (for PK – 2nd) & Makerspace (for 3rd – 6th) works.
- Show them an example of the Library Passes, timers, and Tracking form.
- E procedures for Checking Out & In their own books and place them on the shelving carts.
- Demonstrate use of spacers, the # of books they may check out.
- Pre-K & K checkout 1 book
- 1st & 2nd checkout 2 books
- 3rd & 4th checkout 3 books
- 5th, & 6th checkout 4 books.
- With the assistance of their teacher and librarian, students will self-select their library books and check them out.
- IL 1. Locate various areas of the library such as Fiction (include Genres), Nonfiction, Easy, Biography, circulation desk, book drop, computers (catalog), etc.
- IL 3. Follow library guidelines and procedures.
- IL 4. Develop a vocabulary of information literacy/library terminology.
- IL 7. Develop self-selection skills to acquire information or to read for pleasure from various genres.
