OPEN ACCESS TIME: Students may come to the library independently or in small groups to check out library books or use the library to find information they need. Also a teacher can schedule and bring in his/her class to use the library reference materials and computers to do research and/or work on information gathering skills with the assistance of the librarian.
Pre-K & PPCD: Show How Plants Grow by Claire Llewellyn and explain about nonfiction books. Use flipchart “Seed to Plant” to explore plants.
Kindergarten: Read The Very Clumsy Click Beetle by Eric Carle and use the flipchart Counting Insects (1-10).
1st Grade: Read Eagles by Julie Lundgren, Use the ReadWriteThink graphic Organizer write information we learned about Eagles. (Look at the live U-stream of the Decorah Eagles)
2nd Grade: Show examples of Fiction and Nonfiction books, then use “Flipchart for Fiction and Nonfiction to practice when you need each.
3rd Grade: Show examples of Fiction and Nonfiction books, then use “Fiction or Nonfiction” to practice when you need each.
4th & 5th Grade: No Story this week, but share information about our new MakerSpace area improvments that are coming soon. (3D printer, Legos, building and gear sets, etc.)
6th Grade: Read Smoky Night by Eve Bunting
LEKS: K. 4 Scientific investigation and reasoning. The student uses age-appropriate tools and models to investigate the natural world.
